Sunday Night Wreck Leaves Two With Serious Injuries

A pair of out of state travelers were left with serious injuries after a one-vehicle accident Sunday night near Dearborn.

Troop H of the Highway Patrol says 30-year-old Clarksville, Tennessee resident Damon K. Blackburn was driving a 2011 Nissan Versa northbound on Interstate 29 about one mile north of Dearborn Sunday night at 9:25 P.M. when he reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel.

The vehicle went off the east side of the interstate and overturned coming to rest on its wheels facing south.

Both Blackburn and his passenger, 28-year-old Forrest Grove, Oregon resident Lacy R. Woods, were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the accident but still suffered serious injuries. Both were taken by Buchanan County EMS to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for treatment of their injuries.
