Teacher Baseline Salary Program Update Provided To South Harrison School Board
South Harrison Superintendent Dennis Eastin provided South Harrison School Board members with an update that he’s received from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regarding the state’s portion which will be paid by the state for the Teacher Baseline Salary Program if the full budget is signed by the governor. The update was part of a meeting held on Monday night. Missouri’s Teacher Baseline Salary Program provides the differential funding for participating districts to meet a $38,000 minimum salary for teachers. Last year, the state provided a 70/30 match for districts and no funding for associated benefits. This year, in its current form, the state will provide the 100 percent of the differential funding and a percentage of benefits. The Teacher Baseline Salary Program must still be signed in its current form by the governor for that funding to be realized. The governor could still use a veto to affect the state’s portion of the funding.
Superintendent Eastin also updated the summer projects which are underway for South Harrison’s Memorial Stadium. New lighting is in the process of being installed. A new press box will also be constructed during the summer. The current structure is currently being taken down. It will be replaced with a two level structure which will be a little longer and deeper than the current facility. Those projects are expected to be completed during the summer.
South Harrison’s board approved a new auditor for the district and declared surplus property. They also approved a resolution to close on the house constructed by the North Central Career Center.
South Harrison’s board will meet to hold their meeting prior to the end of the fiscal year on June 29th.
