Tractor Trailers Collide in Construction Zone on I-35
Two tractor-trailers collided in the middle of a construction zone on I-35 in Clinton County.
An accident report from the Missouri Highway Patrol says that 54-year-old Terry B. Franksain of Traer, Iowa was driving a Peterbilt north on I-35 northeast of Lathrop. At 1 pm he slowed down as he entered a construction zone and was rear-ended by a Volvo tractor-trailer being driven by 53-year-old Ricky D. Huffman of Lacrescent, Minnesota.
After the impact, the Volvo went into the median and came to a stop while the Peterbilt stopped in the passing lane. With construction in the driving lane, both lanes of northbound I-35 were blocked.
Franksain suffered no injury and refused medical treatment at the scene of the accident. Huffman suffered serious injuries and was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by Tri-County Ambulance.
