Trenton Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison for Shooting Police Officer

CHILLICOTHE, MO – The Trenton man who was convicted of shooting a Trenton police officer has been sentenced to 25 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Jamey Griffin was sentenced Thursday in the Circuit Court of Livingston County where the case was transferred on a change of venue.  Griffin entered a guilty plea to amended charges of Assault in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon in April.

Griffin admitted that he assaulted the Trenton officer on June 14, 2019 as he was being transported through Daviess County. Griffin gained control of the officer’s firearm and shot her in the abdomen. The officer had life-threatening injuries but did survive the shooting. Griffin was in custody at the time of the incident and has remained in custody in the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail.
