Two Coffey Residents Charged With Attempted to Defraud by Deception

GALLATIN, MO – Daviess County authorities have filed criminal charges against two Coffey residents, accusing them of attempting to defraud by deception.

Statements issued by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office allege Rebekkah Vielbaum attempted to file a Deed of Release with the county Recorder’s Office on June 1st on a tract of land she and her husband were attempting to purchase. The investigating officer said the deed would have released the property to Vielbaum and her husband, but was intended to be filed by the Escrow company after the property was paid off. The Recorder’s Office did not accept the filing as it was not an original document.

It is alleged by law enforcement that Mary Noppers, Rebekkah’s mother, attempted to file the deed of release the following day. Officers say the property is now in foreclosure and is valued at over $400,000.

Both Rebekkah Vielbaum and Mary Noppers have been charged with the felony of filing false documents. The court has issued warrants for their arrest with bond set at $10,000 cash only.
