Two Pickering Residents Seriously Injured In Nodaway County Accident

Two Pickering residents were seriously injured following a two vehicle accident just south of Pickering late Thursday afternoon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 21 year old Tori Foot of Bedford, Iowa was driving northbound on Highway 148, two-and-a-half miles south of Pickering, and was slowing down while attempting to pass another motorist that was turning eastbound onto a gravel road. Another vehicle, operated by 20 year old Ivy Swift of Pickering, failed to yield after stopping at a stop sign. Foot’s vehicle hit the driver’s side door of Swift’s vehicle. Swift’s vehicle stopped against a fence. Foot’s vehicle stopped on the highway.

Ivy Swift and a passenger, 18 year old Leighanna Reinert of Pickering, were both seriously injured in the accident. Swift was flown to KU Medical Center. Reinhart was taken to Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville. Tori Foot had moderate injuries and was also taken to Mosaic Medical Center.

The accident took place just after 4:30pm Thursday afternoon. The Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department, the Maryville Department of Public Safety, the Maryville Fire Department, and the Pickering Fire Department assisted the Highway Patrol.
