Two Plans To Widen I-70, Which One Will Win?

(MISSOURINET) – The Missouri Legislature has two different plans to expand Interstate-70. State Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Lincoln Hough (huff) has a 2.8-billion-dollar plan to widen Interstate-70 to at least three lanes in both directions from Blue Springs near Kansas City to Wentzville near St. Louis. Hough, a Republican, wants to designate 1.4-billion-dollars in state funding and borrow 1.4-billion.

Meanwhile, the House has given initial approval to a plan backed by House Budget Committee Chairman Cody Smith. He wants to go by the governor’s request to designate 859-million-dollars to expand Interstate-70 to three lanes in both directions around St. Louis, Kansas City and Columbia.
