COVID Hits MO West Football; Game vs West Texas A&M Canceled

COVID has hit the Missouri Western football team and has forced the cancellation of their upcoming game with West Texas A&M.

According to the University Head Football Coach Matt Williamson tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday during the team’s weekly NCAA mandated testing. Additional members of the Griffon coaching staff are also in the athletic department’s COVID-19 protocols.

According to Missouri Western their overall positivity rate with the football team is low, at just 2-percent since weekly testing began in late September. They say all student-athletes who competed against Pittsburg State last weekend tested negative during this week’s testing.

The November 14th game at West Texas A&M will not be rescheduled, but the University says it does still plan to play their final fall game at Nebraska-Kearney Saturday, November 21, pending the results of next week’s COVID testing.
