MIAA Knocked Out Of South Central Regional Tournament
Southern Nazarene shot 63 percent from the field in the second half and provided the second knockout of an MIAA team on Sunday as Southern Nazarene ended the Northwest Missouri State men’s basketball season 61-57 in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament at Bearcat Arena.
The Crimson Storm overcame a seven-point half time deficit and took a four-point lead with seven and a half minutes to play in the game.
The game was tied at 57 with 42 seconds left following a three-point shot from Northwest’s Wes Dreamer. SNU’s freshman guard Javon Jackson hit a baseline shot with just under 15 seconds left for a 59-57 lead. Diego Bernard missed the front end of a one-and-one and Southern Nazarene grabbed the rebound. Northwest then had to commit three fouls to put Southern Nazarene at the free throw line. They got there with 2.7 seconds left and hit both free throws. Northwest then missed a three point shot in front of half court at the buzzer.

Northwest Missouri State ends their season 31-3 on the season.
Earlier in the day, Minnesota-Duluth ended Emporia State’s run in the South Central Regional. After coming back from a 10 point first half deficit to take a lead at halftime, Minnesota-Duluth built a lead of 15 with just over 4 minutes left in the game. The Hornets cut the margin back to 80-76 with 1:10 left in the game before Minnesota-Duluth hit enough free throws down the stretch to win the game 84-79.
Southern Nazarene will take on Minnesota Duluth Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Central Region Final in Bearcat Arena.
