SCORES FROM MONDAY, JULY 17

Chillicothe Mudcats 7 Des Moines Peak Prospects 5
Des Moines drew first blood with single runs in the 1st and 2nd innings, neither of which were earned. Chillicothe came back to tie the game with a two run 2nd of their own. Des Moines inched in front again with a run in the 4th and one more in the 7th to build a 4-2 advantage. Chillicothe responded in a big way with a four run bottom of the 7th. The teams traded single runs in the 8th to cap the scoring.

Clarinda A’s 10 St. Joseph Mustangs 9
Clarinda used a pair of big innings to knock off St. Joe. The a’s scored six times in the 3rd inning to take a controlling lead. The score stayed 6-0 until St. Joe plated a pair in the top of the 8th. Clarinda responded by putting the game away with a four run bottom half.

Sedalia Bombers 7 Jefferson City Renegades 0
Sedalia had little trouble with Jeff City, scoring two in the 2nd, three more in the 5th, and adding two more late to provide the final margin.

Carroll Merchants 10 Joplin Outlaws 9
Carroll kept pace in the North Division playoff race thanks to a monster 2nd inning. After scoring once in the 1st, Carroll came back in the 2nd and scored eight runs to go up 9-0. Joplin got one back in the 3rd but Carroll had one more in the 4th making it 10-1. a five run 5th inning for Joplin made things interesting. The Outlaws added one in the 6th to get back to within three but couldn’t find more offense until the 9th when they scored two but couldn’t get a tying run across.
