Daniel Joseph “Catfish” Kerns Sr.
Daniel Joseph “Catfish” Kerns Sr., 53, of St. Joseph, passed away, Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, in St. Joseph. He was born June 29, 1970, in St. Joseph, son of Elizabeth and Frankie Gibson. He attended Mid Buchanan High School. Joe worked at Sara Lee Foods and also in Concrete Construction. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and horseshoes, coloring, going camping and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lyle Ray Gibson; and maternal grandparents, Billy and Margaret Kerns.
He is survived by brother, Frankie “LeRoy” Gibson, of Agency, Missouri; sister, Kristine Galvan, of Savannah, Missouri; daughter, Tiffany (Dennis) Steeby, of St. Joseph; son, Daniel “DJ” Joseph (Christina) Kerns Jr., of Riverside, Missouri; grandchildren, Joey, Korin, Andrew, Emily, Olivia, McKenlee, and Caydence, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at the Rupp Funeral Home, funeral services following at 6 p.m.
He will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home.
