Karen Alberta Rockhold, age 78, of Lineville, Iowa, the daughter of Albert, Jr. and Mildred Lucille (Shaffer) Weaver, was born December 13, 1943, at Princeton, Missouri. She left this life on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa with her immediate family and good friend, Ila Rhea, by her side.

Karen grew up and attended school in Ravanna, Missouri. The family moved so she attended her senior year and graduated from Princeton High School in Princeton, Missouri in 1961. After beauty school in St. Joseph, Missouri, Karen came back to Princeton and operated a beauty shop for a short time before her marriage on August 31, 1963, to Ronald Dale Rockhold. They made their first home together in Kirksville, Missouri while Ron finished his education degree. Their first daughter, Marty, was born there. The family moved to northern Iowa where Karen worked at the hospital in Spencer and Ron taught school and worked for Morton Buildings. Their second daughter, Stacy, was born there. Later the family moved to Trenton, Missouri, then Princeton, Missouri, and in 1989, to Lineville, Iowa so Ron could manage the family farm. Ron passed away in 1995.

Karen worked home health care and in nursing homes for most of her life. Over the years Karen spent her life taking care of people by serving as a LPN, an office secretary, and finally as the administrator of the Princeton Care Center.

In her retirement, Karen enjoyed watching Stacy coach her teams, helping Marty with her business, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, and helping take care of her great granddaughters. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, working puzzles, reading, cooking, shopping, traveling, and growing flowers. In earlier years she was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Princeton United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Ron; brother, Greg Weaver; and brother-in-law, J.W. Cribb. Survivors include her daughters, Marty Nickell (Butch Davis), and Stacy Snyder and husband, Mike, all of Lineville, Iowa; three grandchildren, Sylvia Nickell (Dalton Sloan), Rayleigh Snyder, and Rayce Snyder, all of Lineville; two great granddaughters, Sunshine Raye and Eliza Jayne; sisters, Linda Cribb of Bettendorf, Iowa, Marsha Hobbs and husband, Dee, of Princeton, Missouri, and Jackie Delameter of Kansas City, Missouri; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022, with Pastor Tim Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Lineville, Iow
