It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Marjorie D. Porter of Summerville, SC on September 22, 2021 at the age of 66 years.

Marjorie Davis was born on November 27, 1954 in Leon, Iowa the daughter of Jack Dale and Deloris Jane Ragan.

Margie, as she was known by, was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many as she never met a stranger. She would talk to anyone and everyone for hours before taking another thirty minutes just to say good-bye or see you later. She knew how to put a smile on your face even in the worst of times with her generous hugs. Her infectious smile and laughter filled every room she entered. Margie’s nurturing and caring heart opened her home to all and kept you fed, even if you didn’t want it; she’d insist. She was undeniably MOM to all. She had a knack… a true artist and craftsman from painting, quilting, cooking to porcelain and china making. Margie gave her time to family, friends, her community and God. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Jack Dale and Deloris Jane of Des Moines, IA and her brother, Michael Douglas Ragan of Des Moines, IA.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James L. Porter, married on December 28, 1971; children, Melinda (Kevin) Branham, Marcus Porter and Lindsey (Jason) Monroe; grandchildren, Aaron (Samantha) Porter, Austin Branham, Raquel Porter, and Tanner Cronk; great grandchildren, Aaron Michael Porter II; brother, Jerry Ragan; sister, Debra Ragan, Tambra (Dennis) Leadley, Terri Ragan, and numerous other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Margie’s Life will be held at a later date at Bethany United Methodist Church, Summerville, SC.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13 at Mercer Baptist Church, Mercer, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Lineville, IA. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.
