Maurice Dean King – age 98 of Gallatin, MO passed away Sunday morning, December 24, 2023, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, MO. Dean was born on July 27, 1925, the son of Frank and Emma (Miller) King in Lock Springs, MO. He grew up in Lock Springs and Jamesport area, and was a Jamesport High School graduate. He married Virginia England on October 5, 1962, in Jameson, MO. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed in California. Dean and Virginia were longtime members of the Gallatin First Baptist Church. Dean enjoyed farming and always liked doing stuff; he wasn’t the type to be found sitting still. He loved baseball and was an avid Royals fan. Dean was a family-oriented man and loved reminiscing with friends and family. He was known for being strong willed and willingness to help others. Dean will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia and siblings, Frank “June” King, John Braxton King, Robert King, Harold King, Mary Margaret Budzinski, and Joyce Blank. He is survived by his children, Irene Taul (Gene) of Gallatin, MO, NL Pugh (Nancy) of Cameron, MO, Lynn Pugh (Jackie) of Ponca City, OK, Jill Tolen (Ron) of Cameron, MO, and Robert “Bob” King (Katya) of Falls Church, VA; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Clear Creek Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 29, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Gallatin, MO. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery, Jamesport, MO.
