Mickey Smith
UNION STAR, Mo. – Mickey Smith, 71, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and cherished friend, passed away at his home on Dec. 17, 2023, in Union Star, Missouri.
He was born in Union Star on Oct. 2, 1952, to Kenneth G. and Flora “Florene” C. (Smoot) Smith.
On June 16, 2012, Mickey united in marriage with Monica Leigh Gall, and together they shared a life filled with joy and tenderness for 11 years.
Mickey graduated from Union Star High School, after which he dedicated 41 years to Dean Machinery, where his diligence and expertise saw him rise from a partsman to parts manager.
Mickey left behind his beloved wife, Monica Gall-Smith, along with his children, Trisha Smith (Jason), Chad Smith (Shannon), Matthew Smith (Cara), Abby Vasques (Ed), Katie Radtka, and Sam Gall. His love and teachings live on through his 18 grandchildren, with one great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Jim Smith (Diane), Mary Hill (Randall), Phyllis Mueller, Roger Smith (Debbie), and sister-in-law Patty Smith, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jerry Smith; and brother-in-law, Vince Mueller.
Mickey’s passion for life included his love for golf, being a long-standing member of Duncan Hill Golf Course, and his enthusiasm for sports. As an avid fan, he supported Mizzou, Chiefs Football, and Kansas City Royals baseball with fervor. His dedication to his family shone through his years coaching his boys in their various sports, fostering not only their athletic abilities but their growth as individuals.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 11 a.m. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will gather with friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association.
