Paul Gerald (Gabby) Brand was born October 12, 1931, to Lewis and Madge (Crittenden) Brand. He was the 7th of 11 children. Paul was born south of Thayer, Iowa on a farm. He grew up on a farm near Mount Ayr, Iowa and in 1950, he and his family moved into Mount Ayr. Paul passed away on May 4, 2023.

Paul went to a rural school, attended, and graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1951.

On February 14, 1961, he was united in marriage to Georgia LuAnn McHenry at the First Baptist Church in Mount Ayr. To this union, two daughters were born: Christina Lynn and LuAnn Kay.

Paul had many careers in his lifetime, working for the railroad, Prentis Hatchery, Warin Oil, Bastow Feed & Grain, Sweet Sassy Feed which would become Hubbard Milling. He worked for that company for 30 years as a district feed salesman. He retired in 1994 and spent 21 winters in Mission, Texas.

Paul had many hobbies: playing cards, bowling, playing pool, square dancing and talking to anyone and everyone, even strangers. He loved fishing in Canada and deep-sea fishing in Texas. He enjoyed spending time with all his family.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis & Madge; parents-in-law John & Rubye McHenry; grandson Joseph Muhlbauer; brothers Harold, Clyde, Earl and Dean; sisters Margaret, Lois and Jean; brothers-in-law Walt Cobb, Ainslee Triggs, Lyle Gilliland, Bob Schafer, Don Harvey, Clyde Trullinger; sisters-in-law Rosie Brand, Shirley Brand, Ruth Trullinger, Bonnie Young.

Paul is survived by his wife Georgia; daughters Christina (Paul) Muhlbauer and LuAnn Brand; grandchildren Tom (Gabi) Muhlbauer, Eric (Amanda) Muhlbauer, Rachael (Aaron) Boisvert, Jeff Muhlbauer; great grandchildren Alison, Brandon and Thomas Muhlbauer; brother Lee Brand; sisters Wilma Schafer and Betty Cobb; sister-in-law Joan Harvey; many nephews, nieces and great nephews and great nieces.
