Lineville, IA: Robert Evers Sanders, Jr., 77, Lineville, IA passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023,
at a Knoxville, IA nursing home.
He was born on February 1, 1946, in Centerville, Iowa the son of Robert E., Sr. and Audrey
(Grove) Sanders.
On August 31, 1968, he married Jean Onstot in Norwalk, Iowa.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, caring for his plants, gardens and yard, rock hunting,
telling stories about the railroad and spending time with or talking about his grandchildren. He
was proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He had a weakness for
licorice, pretzels, jaw breakers, jolly ranchers and good ice cream, was famous for his
homemade sauerkraut, and had everyone trained to properly mix his coffee (creamer). Lucky
Buffet in Knoxville was his favorite place to eat, scheduling doctor appointments around lunch
and dragging any available people with him when he was in town.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gilbert and Delbert Sanders.
He leaves behind his wife, Jean Sanders (Onstot), of the home; daughter, Cindy Dilliner,
Knoxville, IA and grandchildren, Jade, Jeremiah, and Colby (Margo); daughter, Brandi Sanders
(Stacy) Lineville, IA and grandchildren, Ashlea (Ty) and Patience; and many nieces, nephews,
extended family and special friends.
Robert has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO.
There are no scheduled services. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Evergreen
Cemetery, Lineville, IA. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of
