Fallen MO Marine’s Family Speak In Washington, D.C. About Deadly Afghanistan Pullout

(MissouriNet) Members of a fallen Missouri Marine’s family are in Washington, D.C. today to participate in a Gold Star Families roundtable.

The roundtable is part of a U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee’s review of the August 2021 deadly attack during the U.S. pullout of Afghanistan. Thirteen U.S. soldiers were killed, including Marine Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz, of Wentzville.

Some memories – and nightmares – are etched into the mind of his stepmother, Jaclyn.

Corporal Schmitz was 20 years old and was deployed for the first time when he was killed.
