Attempted Kidnapping Near Lathrop

Authorities in Clinton County have made an arrest after an attempted kidnapping incident near Lathrop Tuesday afternoon.

the incident took place Tuesday afternoon when a 14-year-old female was going home from her bus stop and was approached by the suspect, who has not yet been identified.

That suspect tried to lure the girl into his vehicle but the child refused and then went to a nearby home to call her mother, who then called 911.

Authorities say the child was able to give them an excellent description of both the vehicle and the suspect. The suspect was then located a short while later in Holt by the Holt Fire Chief. The suspect was taken into custody after a brief struggle during which a taser had to be deployed.

Authorities say the suspect was already under supervision of Probation and Parole and had outstanding multiple warrants prior to this incident.

The suspect was booked into the Clinton County Jail on a 24-hour hold to await formal charges. Those charges, and more details in the case, are expected this morning.
