Attorney General Issues Subpoenas to Delta, Vape Distributors
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s office launched an investigation into what he calls “illicit vape and marijuana products” this week “to ensure compliance with Missouri Law” and “protect Missouri consumers from potentially dangerous products.”
After receiving reports that distributors may have violated the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, Bailey’s office issued civil investigative demands.
In a statement, Bailey said, “Under state law, Missourians have a right to live free from fraud and deception in the marketplace.”
He continued, saying “When purchasing products, Missourians have a right to know if they will be subject to serious and potentially dangerous side effects like psychotic episodes, severe confusion, hallucinations, and other life-threatening problems.”
Delta-8 products are illegal or restricted in 24 states.
Bailey’s office says that’s due to the health risks such products pose.
The Attorney General sent his civil investigative demands to businesses that sell Delta-8 and Delta-9 products, alleging that they engaged in “illegal means” to market and sell said products.
Bailey issued similar subpoenas to distributors of what his office calls “e-cigarettes” or “illicit vapes.”
