Bethany Man Charged With Assaulting Officer

HARRISON COUNTY, MO – A Bethany man was taken into custody on Friday when officers responded to a domestic disturbance call on South 9th Street in Bethany.

In a statement issued by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, officers say they responded to the residence and were advised that 21-year-old Anthony Colton Smith was allegedly out of control. The caller had locked herself in a bedroom for her safety. In the report, the officer says that upon arriving to the residence he observed Smith with a knife at which point the officer drew his gun. It is alleged that Smith threw the knife at the officer, missing his head by a couple feet.

Smith was arrested and has been charged with Assault in the First Degree, Armed Criminal Action, and Harassment. His bond is set at $150,000 cash only. Smith is set to appear in court this morning for arraignment.
