CDL Training Funding Announced For Iowa Community Colleges

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has announced funding availability for programs which train individuals working to receive their commercial driver’s license.

The Iowa CDL Infrastructure Grant will providing $5 million in grant funding for programs which train individuals through Iowa Community Colleges. This funding will assist Iowa community college programs with building, purchasing, and remodeling CDL training infrastructure.

Funding is open to Iowa’s Community Colleges, with priority given to applicants who have the ability to train and certify truck drivers continuously and in higher volumes. IWD will also consider location to help ensure geographic diversity of the grant awards.

The funding will be made through reimbursement and used for building, purchasing, or remodeling and can be applied toward third-party contractors, the purchase of training space, and equipment.

Grant applications will be accepted at IowaGrants.gov beginning today and are due on Monday, September 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM.
