Chillicothe Resident and Pet Die In Friday Fire

A Chillicothe resident and their dog were the victims of a house fire Friday evening.

Chillicothe Emergency Services were called to the blaze at 114 Henry Street at 5:24 P.M. Once on scene authorities say the residence was fully engulfed in flames.

Law Enforcement says it appears that the 90-year-old resident and a pet dog were overcome by smoke and removed from the structure. The dog was declared dead on scene, while the 90-year-old resident was transported to Hedrick Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

The Missouri State Fire Marshall’s office was contacted to investigate the origin of the fire.
