City Receives Donation For Planned Bethany Depot Move
Bethany’s City Administrator Jake Taylor announced to Bethany’s Board of Aldermen at their meeting Monday that the Toot Toot Restaurant and Lounge has donated $5,000 toward the project to move the Bethany Depot from its current location to a selected new location on the north side of the acquired Isreal Land Tract. The move will be done in either late summer or early fall.
The city will not take bids this year for the employee health insurance package. State law requires the action every three years. This year’s estimated increase is just under 2 percent. The estimated increase was set at 12 percent for the budget. The city’s current provider is Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Bethany’s Police Department plans to begin cracking down on individuals parking on city sidewalks. The city also plans to seek bids for the sidewalk repairs needed on 39th Street.
The city will be looking for a replacement Code Enforcement vehicle in the next few weeks.
A bid was also approved for Meter pit parts for the Water Department. WinWater received the bid at a cost of $5,726.
