First Impact Events Coming To The Area
The First Impact program is coming to the area next week.
First Impact offers a free 90-minute evidence-based traffic safety program that educates parents about Missouri’s Graduated Driver License law. The program is aimed at parents of teen drivers, ages 14 to 19 and new and soon to be drivers.
First Impact aims to eliminate motor vehicle fatalities and injuries among teens and teen-involved crashes by increasing parental awareness and enforcement of Missouri’s GDL law.
Leaders of the program hope to increase awareness of teen driving risks, understanding of Missouri’s GDL law, GDL monitoring and enforcement at home, and the importance of being a positive role model.
The program is delivered by trained facilitators and law enforcement officers who coach parents by presenting key facts and proven strategies to help parents lower their teen’s crash risk by utilizing the Missouri GDL law.
An in-person First Impact session is being held at the Smithfield Education Center in Princeton from 6 to 7:30 P.M. Monday, March 14. Speakers at the event include retired law enforcement officer Marsha Jones and Chief Deputy Michael Claypole with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
Jones and Deputy Claypole will also be speakers on a First Impact Zoom session Tuesday, March 15 from 6 to 7:30, which will be moderated by Deana Dothage with the University of Missouri.
There are also other Zoom sessions involving other officers being held March 28 and April 4.
