Former Ray County Sheriff Charged with Misdemeanor

Former Ray County Sheriff Garry Bush was charged with a Class A misdemeanor by the Platte County Prosecuting Attorney’s office Tuesday, after allegedly interfering with an arrest back on January 25th.

Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd filed the charge after examining police reports and surveillance footage.

Court documents allege that Bush stepped in front of an officer attempting to arrest a suspect, pushed him, and said “Don’t do it, don’t start.”

The Richmond Police Department investigated the case.

Zahnd’s office charged Bush with interfering with an arrest, and a summons was issued for him to appear in court.
