Gallatin’s Chautauqua Event is this Friday and Saturday

The Gallatin Chautauqua will be this Friday and Saturday.

On September 20 and 21, on the 150th anniversary of Frank and Jesse James robbed the Daviess County Savings Association in Gallatin, the Chautauqua will feature vendors with various wares.

A baby show begins the activities at 6 p.m. on Friday followed by a pedal tractor race by Bright Futures and old fashioned yard games at 7. At 8 p.m. three will be a free showing of Barnyard and Gloga with music and a beer garden by the Daviess County County Club at 9.

The Gallatin Lions Club will serve biscuits and gravy from 7 until 10 a.m. on Saturday with a Color Rush 5k race by Access II Independent Living Center at 7.

A pet show “All Creatures Great and Small” will be at 8:30 a.m. sponsored by The Friends of Christ Church with a $10 cash prize. Make sure your pet is on a leash or in a crate. Categories are the most unusual pet, best pet costume, cutest trick, and judges’ choice. The Green Hills Animal Shelter will be accepting donations and have animals available for adoption.

Other activities include the Main Street Market and Vendor Fair from 9 to 5 p.m;
a Western-themed parade at 10 a.m;
car show from 10 to 2 p.m. with awards for the top 10, best of show, and people’s choice at 2 p.m.;
touch a truck for children after the parade until noon;
the Gallatin Theater League comedy melodrama “Double Take at Beatrice’s Boarding House” for $5 per seat;
garden tractor pull, and paint class at 11 a.m.;
live music by Manda Shae and the Sumptin Brothers from 11 to 2 p.m.;
children’s games and an inflatable carnival from 11 to 6 p.m.;
a singles bags tournament at noon;
another painting class and another performance by the Theater League at 1 p.m.;
a magic show at 2 p.m.; reenactment of the 1869 James boys robbery at 3 p.m.;
Frank James trial and live music by Hammertoe and the Fun Guys at 4 p.m.;
the Beer, Wine, and Spirits Fest from 4 to p.m.;
a doubles bags tournament at 5 p.m.;
Mic-O-Say Dancers from 6 to 7 p.m.;
and live music by Dammit Jim from 7 to 10 p.m.

The Gallatin Theater League will perform “Double Take at Beatrice’s Boarding House once again Sunday at 1 p.m.
