House Member Wants To Get Approval To Make Missouri A Left Turn On Red State

(MISSOURINET) – Forty-two U.S. states allow drivers to turn left on red when turning onto a one-way street. Missouri does not. State Representative Richard Brown, a Democrat from Kansas City, is proposing to put Missouri in alignment with the other 42 states.

Supporters say that the bill has wide support and has passed out of the House in previous sessions. There was no opposition to his bill during a House committee hearing, but some who testified say it would be better to have a “left allowed when” sign rather than a “left turn allowed” for safety reasons. The bill is being considered by a House rules committee.
