Missouri Radiologist Says Breast Exam Bill Passing Is Huge Win For Women

(MISSOURINET) – The American Cancer Society says about 57-hundred Missouri women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and more than 800 others will die in 2023. The fate of a bill up to Governor Mike Parson aims to lower these figures. The plan would require health insurance companies to cover the full cost of follow-up exams used to diagnose breast cancer if an initial mammogram finds potential problems. Dr. Amy Patel (pa-TELL), a UMKC radiology professor, says the bill is a huge win for women.

Exams used to diagnose breast cancer, such as MRIs and ultrasounds, can cost patients hundreds of dollars each.
