(MISSOURINET) –  Missouri is one of the worst states for driving, according to a new survey by Wallet-Hub. In ranking each U-S state from best to worst, Missouri comes in at 45, with key categories including ownership and maintenance costs of highway systems, traffic and infrastructure, and overall safety. Nicole Hood is State Highway Safety Traffic Engineer for Mo-DOT:

Hood says a 2017 report from the National Safety Council gave Missouri a letter grade of “F,” while ranking 49th in roadway safety. Neighboring Iowa came in at number one as the safest state for driving. Another Missouri neighbor, Oklahoma, was ranked 4th-safest, while Kansas ranks as the 9th-safest state for drivers.
