Missouri Representative Discusses Bill Providing Restrictions For Teens Purchasing Firearms

(MISSOURINET) – A Columbia Democratic Representative is sponsoring a controversial bill following the rise of shootings among teens and early 20-year-olds over the past several years. Rep. David Tyson Smith tells Missourinet that there could be a path forward for his bill that looks to prevent teens from buying or selling firearms…

The bill has seen no movement in the House of Representatives since being read a second time on January 5th. Republican Rep. Ben Baker of Neosho says House Bill 208’s definitions are poorly written and says the definition of ‘semi-automatic firearm’ is problematic given it’s wide range from World War I weapons to the modern sporting rifle.
