Missouri School Funding Bill Heard In Senate Education Committee

(MISSOURINET) – A Senate Education Committee is considering a bill presented by Democratic Sen. Lauren Arthur that would change the funding formula for elementary and secondary schools. She explains that Missouri isn’t doing enough to increase investment in a child’s future…

She says that the SAT is capped at 5%, despite inflation causing the cost and price of everything to increase. She calls it ‘flat funding’ and proposes to raise that cap to 10%. No one testified against the bill at the committee, but those who spoke in favor said that students in high poverty districts have a higher need. The committee hasn’t taken up a vote on the bill yet.
