Missouri State Agencies Want Drought Reporting Help From Public Through Survey

Missouri state agencies say reports of local conditions are key for assessing the state’s drought situation and have developed a survey for the public to assist local, state, and national officials who are making decisions.

The Condition Monitoring Observer Reports, or the CMOR, service have been developed and has the capacity to accept reports and photographs which can be used by state and federal officials to create an accurate drought map in Missouri and other states.

Governor Mike Parson on May 31 issued a Drought Alert for 60 counties from mid-Missouri to northwestern Missouri. The continuing hot, dry weather means drought conditions are expected to further degrade heading into summer. Other counties will be added to the alert and be eligible for assistance as they reach established drought thresholds.
