Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty Pleads Governor Parson to Stay Upcoming Execution

(MISSOURINET) – June 6 is when Michael Tisius (TYSE-us) is scheduled to be put to death. He was convicted of the killings of two unarmed Randolph County jail workers in a plot to break out an inmate in 2000. Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty held a rally Tuesday at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, pleading with Governor Mike Parson to stay the execution…

That’s Elyse Max, Executive Director for Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty. The American Bar Association, most recently, called on Parson to stop his execution, saying in a May 22 letter that Tisius’ brain development was below typical levels for his age, bringing up his beatings and neglect as a child for reasons why he should not be put to death. It is unknown what Parson will decide, but he has until Tuesday, June 6.
