Mount Ayr Council Members Approve New Zoning Map
Mount Ayr’s Board of Aldermen received presentations for services that could be offered toward a Downtown Enhancement Plan for the city during their meeting on Monday night. There was no action taken on the measure, but two presentations were made for services that could be offered over a 10-year period that would provide ideas or direction for downtown enhancement.
Council members also approved a new zoning map for the city. That plan would essentially would be clean up work that would better align with the city at this time. Zoning changes were also approved that allow a larger garage size within the city. During the public hearing for the zoning changes, it was also reported that the Ringgold County Assessor does not use a city zoning map when determining their tax assessments for property.
Council members received information about a potential Drainage Study that may be considered by the city.
Action to create annual increases in solid waste collection fees was also approved. Those fees would just annually by 2 percent like the set up for the other utility rates.
Mount Ayr’s Trick or Treat Night was set for October 31st from 5 until 7pm.
The city was denied one grant for their Sewer Update Project. They received another grant. Another grant application will be made for the project in the next quarter.
Street work could be started in Mount Ayr next week.
