Mount Ayr Receives Two Bids For Pool Project
Mount Ayr’s Board of Aldermen approved a resolution providing for the levy of taxes to pay for General Obligation Swimming Pool Bonds during their meeting held Monday night. The action is the next step in the process to set up the payment for the pool project within the city budget. The vote for the bond offering was approved last year.
Council members approved the agreed with V&K for the administration of the Downtown HUD Grant.
Anna Nethery was hired as the Recreation Director for 2024.
Council members received an update on areas of concern identified for the Loch Ayr Lake Dam. Council members also spent time discussing nuisances. Courtesy letters will no longer be sent out. The nuisance notices will be served by an official.
The bid opening was held for Mount Ayr’s pool project on Tuesday afternoon. Christansen Construction of Pender, Nebraska submitted a base bid of $3.983 million dollars with a bid of 5 alternatives of $4.54 million. Carrothers Construction of Paola, Kansas submitted a base bid of $2.568 million. Their bid for the 5 alternatives was just over $3 million. The engineer’s estimate was $3.1 million. Mount Ayr council members will now take both bids into future consideration.
