MU Extension Hosting Succession Planning Workshop Series

In an effort to help farmers, ranchers and producers of all types get a better grip on the inevitable transition of their farm and business to the next generations the University of Missouri Extension is planning a series of workshops to help the ag world plan for succession.

Estimates are that only about one-third of all family businesses have developed a plan to transition those businesses to another owner.

If your family farm has no succession plan, or your plan needs an overhaul, you are invited to join MU Extension Agricultural Business and Policy specialists Wesley Tucker and Rachel Hopkins to start your farm succession planning at these no-cost workshops being held across the state.

During the workshops you will learn how to navigate family roles and business roles to prevent conflict, improve communication within the family farm business, share farm management decision-making with family during short-term crises, and organize a plan to transition farm ownership and management responsibilities to the next generation.

In our area a workshop will be held on Friday, March 10 in St. Joseph from noon until 2:30 P.M. There is also an online session being held via Zoom Thursday, March 16 from 11 A.M. until 1:30 P.M.
