NWMSU Regents Approve Search Firm For Presidential Search

The Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents selected the firm which will provide the direction for the search of the university next president.

Houston-based Anthem Executive was approved by the Board of Regents during a special session held Friday morning. An ad-hoc committee had been developed to provide a recommendation of the board. Board of Regents Chair John Moore says 5 firms responded to Northwest’s Request for Proposals. 3 of those firms were brought in for the final phase in the process.

Ad-hoc committee members speaking during the session noted that Anthem currently has plenty of experience in previous presidential searches, but the firm would only take on one other university’s presidential search while they are working with Northwest Missouri State University. Regent Mel Tjeerdsma gave some of his impressions of Anthem.

Anthem had the highest bid of the firms that were considered for the search. Their base cost is $105,000. The bids ranged from $70,000 to $105,000.

Regent Chair John Moore was also selected to serve as the chair of the Northwest Search Committee which will be formed as part of the process. Public input into considerations sought by the public for the next Northwest Missouri State University President is expected to be taken as part of the search process which will be recommended by Anthem.

Regents were also advised that the scheduled completion of the stairwell project for Bearcat Stadium has been delayed. It means that Northwest will have to bring in scaffolding seating as they did last year for at least a month, and perhaps two months. The cost of that will be $36,000 if the delay is one month, 48,000 if delayed two months. The stairwell project was approved in January after the stairs were considered deteriorated beyond repair. The delay is due to unforeseen underground circumstances which led to some structural concerns.
