A Plattsburg man has been left with serious injuries after a three vehicle accident Sunday in Central Missouri’s Benton County.

Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol says 49-year-old Edwards, Missouri resident David J. Perryman was driving a 1997 Ford F150 southbound on U.S. Highway 65 in Benton County at 11:50 A.M. Sunday when his truck crossed the center line and hit a northbound 2004 Chevy Suburban being driven by 51-year-old Plattsburg resident Dennis W. Helt.

After that collision the Perryman vehicle crossed back into the southbound lanes of U.S. 65 and was struck by a 2011 Chevy Cruz being driven by 31-year-old Kristin N. Ellis of Sedalia.

According to the Highway Patrol crash report all three drivers were wearing seat belts at the time, but all three suffered serious injuries. Both Perryman and Helt were taken via Life Flight Eagle to University Hospital in Columbia, while Ellis was taken by Warasaw-Lincoln EMS to Bothwell Hospital.
