Princeton Board Extends Administrators Contract, One Administrator Announces Retirement

Princeton School Board members approved bids for new entry doors and access control and a proposal to integrate telephones with access control software during a meeting Monday night.

A bid of $46,297 was approved from Maryville Glass & Lock for new entry doors and access control hardware. The proposal from GRM Networks for access control software for telephones at the main entry doors was approved for just over $26,600. Princeton will use $50,000 in School Safety grant to fund the projects.

The board received an update on the Get The Lead Out initiative for safe drinking water. Recent lead testing results indicated that most tests fall within acceptable limits, but the ice machine in the Elementary Kitchen exceeded the allowable threshold. The district has disconnected the ice machine and plans to replace the water line and filtration system, followed by retesting to ensure effectiveness.

The Princeton board approved the 2024-25 School Calendar. The calendar includes a starting date of August 24th this fall. The ending date is Thursday, May 15, 2025. All snow days are built into the calendar. The calendar includes 1,108 hours.

The board approved resignations of Crissy Weber from Parents as Teachers and Kurt Meighen as FFA/Ag Instructor. Dale Bagley was added for an extra duty assignment as Junior High Scholar
Bowl.

Superintendent Jerry Girdner’s contract was extended through 2026-27. Elementary Principal Wes Guilkey’s contract was approved through 2025-26. The district has also received notification that Junior High and High School Principal Dana Seymour has announced her retirement at the end of the 2023-24 school year.
