Princeton Exploring GRC Division Change And 8-Man Football Again

Princeton School Board members plan to vote on a proposal to move to an 8-Man Football Program at the varsity level in the future during a meeting held this week. The meeting included several parents and community members who attended and spoke in favor of pursuing 8-man football for the Junior High and the Varsity programs. The board has already directed Athletics Director Scott Ussery to develop an 8-Man Junior High Football Schedule for the 2023 season. Princeton estimates 11 players to participate for the next junior high football season.

The administration shared a possibility of applying to participate in the West Division of the Grand River Conference. That option was considered in the spring, but was ultimately not pursued.

The Princeton Board of Education will hold a meeting on November 14th and have invited community feedback on the proposal regarding a divisional change which would include a move to 8-man football. A vote is expected to be made on the proposal at that meeting.

Princeton’s board approved Derek Power as a volunteer coach for Junior High Girls Basketball.

Princeton will hold their Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 27th from 1pm until 7pm.
