PSC Approves Missouri-American Water’s Purchase of Stewartsville Systems

The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement which grants Missouri-American Water Company a certificate of convenience and necessity (CCN) to provide water and sewer service in and around the City of Stewartsville.

To provide water and sewer service to the area, Missouri-American Water will purchase all of the water and sewer utility assets of the City of Stewartsville system. On November 2, 2021, voters approved the sale of the Stewartsville systems to Missouri-American.

remain in effect until they are modified according to law.

Missouri-American Water currently has a water and sewer rate increase case before the Missouri Public Service Commission.

Missouri-American Water provides water service to approximately 475,000 customers in Missouri, and provides sewer service to about 18,000 customers in the state. The City of Stewartsville system serves 357 water accounts and 354 sewer accounts
