Spickard Motorcycle Operator Injured Following Tuesday Evening Accident

A Spickard motorcycle operator was seriously injured following an accident Tuesday evening east of Spickard.

The Highway Patrol reports 56 year old Richard Tharp was driving eastbound on Route B, 4 miles east of Spickard, when an animal entered the roadway. The motorcycle struck the animal and threw the driver from the motorcycle. The motorcycle landed on its side off the roadway. The driver stayed on the roadway.

He was flown to a Columbia hospital.

The accident took place at 9pm Tuesday evening.

The Grundy County Ambulance and the Spickard Fire Department assisted the Highway Patrol.
