St. Joe Man Guilty for Cutting Woman

A St. Joseph man was found guilty Wednesday on charges related to a razor attack on a woman whom he had been in a relationship with.

Following a two-day trial the Buchanan County jury found 39-year-old Mexico, Missouri resident Leryan G. Lewis guilty on charges of 1st degree assault and armed criminal action.

Lewis stood accused of using a razor blade to cut the neck and fingers of a woman who he was in a romantic relationship with while they were in a vehicle at a St. Joseph gas station last February.

Bystanders assisted the victim and St. Joe Police were able to arrive and apprehend Lewis before he was able to flee the scene.

Sentencing in the case is set for March 10.
