Stanberry Board Holds March Session

Stanberry School Superintendent Dr. John Davison provided a legislative update to Stanberry School Board members at their March session. He specifically noted open enrollment, school safety, school board filing legislation and how those measures at advancing in this year’s legislative session.

He told board members that a summer maintenance schedule will be developed that will include consideration of teacher requests. The final plan will be shared in May. Cabinets in the high school and library will be updated over the summer. The east doors replacement project should be completed in two to three weeks.

Board members approved the salary schedule for the 2024-25 school year and hired certified staff members.

Superintendent Davison also reported that the MET Insurance rates for the next school year will result in an increase in premiums of 3.6 percent. The district currently offers 6 different plans that include PPOs and HSA plans.

Board members also reviewed and update and proposed changes to the Stanberry Gifted Handbook. Those changes were approved by the board following the presentation. More information about the gifted program will be sent out to families at a later time.
