State Senators Call for St. Joseph School Board Member’s Resignation
Missouri lawmakers are calling for a St. Joseph Board of Education member’s resignation.
Whitney Lanning faces a misdemeanor harassment charge after a dispute with fellow board member Isaura Garcia that allegedly ended with Lanning making threats and throwing objects.
On Twitter, state Senator Tony Luetkemeyer called the charges against Lanning “serious” and said that “she should immediately resign her position.”
Senator Rusty Black expressed a similar sentiment, saying that Lanning should resign her role as executive director of the Community Action Partnership of Greater St. Joseph.
In a statement of her own, Lanning said that she has “no intention” to resign.
The charge against Lanning is a Class A misdemeanor, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a fine of $2,000.
