Statewide CMV Awareness Campaign Planned Next Week

Next week, a statewide awareness campaign will held held in Missouri to remind motorists to drive safely around big trucks and buses.

Commercial motor vehicles make up 20 percent of Missouri’s interstate traffic. When there are crashes involving large trucks and buses, the disproportionate size of the truck versus a smaller vehicle means there is a higher likelihood of serious injuries.

The campaign will remind motorists not to cut off large trucks or buses and make sure the truck’s cab lights can be seen in the rear view mirror before moving back into the original lane, to stay out of the large blind spots of trucks on either side and up to 200 feet behind a vehicle, to pass only on the left side, and to watch a following distance.
