Tire Blowout Leads to Injury in Andrew County

A tire blowout led to an injury in Andrew County.

Sunday evening at 5:35, the Missouri Highway Patrol reports that a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Norma Zavala of Independence was involved in a single-vehicle crash.

Norma Zavala was traveling with her husband, 52-year-old Jorge Zavala and their son, 20-year-old George Zavala. They were all wearing their seatbelt as they traveled north on I-29, three miles north of St. Joseph.

The left rear tire suddenly blew out, sending the vehicle off the east side of the road where it overturned, coming to rest in a ditch on its wheels.

Only Jorge was injured. He was taken by Andrew County EMS to Mosaic Life Care.
