Two Seriously Injured From Highway 36 Accident

Three were injured, including two seriously, following a two vehicle accident on Highway 36 east of St Joseph Monday evening.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports two vehicles were heading eastbound on Highway 36, 5 miles east of St Joseph. 26 year old Bryson McDowell of Maysville was approaching the other vehicle at a high rate of speed. His front bumper hit the back of the other vehicle, driven by 54 year old Shannon Anderson of Easton.

Both vehicles went off the side of the roadway and were totaled in the accident.

Anderson and a passenger, 54 year old Lee Anderson, were both seriously injured. McDowell had minor injuries. All injured were taken to Mosaic.

Following the accident, McDowell was arrested on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance, felony driving while intoxicated via drugs involving serious physical injury, and driving while suspended. He was released for medical treatment.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department and the Buchanan County EMS assisted the Highway Patrol.

The accident took place just before 8pm Monday evening.
