UCP of Northwest Missouri 2022 Chili Challenge Set For March 6
Chili chefs and fans of the culinary slice of Americana will want to mark March 6 on their calendar. That is the date of the 36th annual United Cerebral Palsy of Northwest Missouri Chili Challenge at St. Joseph’s Civic Arena.
The annual event brings dozens of chili teams, sponsors, community members and UCP participants to Civic Arena for a true chili “throwdown.”
Many teams return year after year to fight for their Chili titles, including the coveted People’s Choice Award. This award is presented to the team with the most People’s Choice votes, which are collected online or in-person as monetary donations toward the UCP mission.
A silent auction, live music and beverages create an upbeat, fast-paced atmosphere that is unique to St. Joseph and unique to the region.
There is still room for additional teams, and the organization is seeking items to be donated for the silent auction portion of the event.
Each year, the Chili Challenge helps raise at least $100,000 in funds that help at every level of the UCP programs and mission, from preschool to professional therapy services and the UCP adult program, which provides employment and life skills for adults with disabilities.
Last year, despite the event being virtual, they still exceeded the goal of raising $100,000 for the children and adults served by UCP of Northwest Missouri.
